      Leadership Competencies Assessment Introduction

Extraordinary leadership is an increasingly important element of success. In the on‑going effort to develop leadership talent, competencies have become and important part of the performance appraisal and development process.

Competencies are the knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics and other person‑based factors that help distinguish superior performance from average performance. These competencies are intended to help identify and develop specific areas that are needed to be successful in leadership.

Leadership competencies describe the behaviors that are required for exceptional performance. The competencies are scaled to apply to all professional levels of performance.

Performance Competencies Assessment: The Performance Competency Assessment is a customized assessment that is culturally based in the performance appraisal process of the organization in which the individual being assessed is performing. These become the standards of performance for the present environment and define skill level, experience level, observed attitudes and work habits. The information is based on perceptions of performance. In each case the standards are taken from the Company’s performance standards and cover the following areas.
